Has Anyone Checked In On The Good Folks Up There In Beaverton, Oregon?
It’s June 7th and Nike has yet to introduce anything for Pride Month. The Be True site still shows last year’s collection. It’s disappointing to me. I am hopeful that this is just a slip-up and not a reaction to the ever-growing phony outrage that currently plagues this country.
There is plenty of room to celebrate all of the beautiful and diverse people, backgrounds, and ethnicities that make this planet wonderful. Especially in the footwear industry.
If you’re new here, and this offends you…✌️
Another Type of Pride…Pride In Your Work.
I’m guilty of being lazy when it comes to my work. The inconsistency of posting, the unnecessarily rushed approach, and the overwhelming number of things I put out, are all things that I think everyone has to deal with at times. One thing I hope you never see me do is completely ignore something I told you was important earlier in the day.
That’s what Nike did with the WNBA last week…
Not every person on every team can be a fan of every sport when you are a company the size of Nike’s, but this is a good reminder for those of us that work in content creation to make sure we have multiple people checking in on the seemingly smallest of details.
I just wish Nike as a whole had pride in their future consumers and less in their future shareholders. I love Nike. I want to be able to feel good about wearing a Swoosh again but a lot of the recent poor decisions make me hesitant. Am I the only one?
Hoka Is Killing It
Deckers, one of the many conglomerates in footwear, posted some impressive financial results lead by Hoka’s 34 percent rise to $533.0 million in fourth quarter sales. Hoka also opened their first flagship in NYC. Maybe it’s finally time for me to try a pair?
This Is A Big Win For Small Conscious Brands
Who knew that Helen Mirren was a sneaker influencer? Fluff piece aside, I’m happy to see a brand like Cariuma finding success in the boxing ring that is the footwear business.
Props to Nike and Di’Orr Greenwood For This One
Tell someone you like their kicks today. You never know how far a simple compliment can take you and we all know how good it feels to be on the receiving end of some appreciation! Have a great weekend, everyone!
